Going over to Europe in April or May on the bike. The back tyre will need changing at some point in the next couple of thousand miles. Anyone got any experiences of pricing in France or Belgium, is it likely to be cheaper than the UK ?

They used ot be a bit cheaper, but I think the UK dropped it's prices a bit.
This outfit (not used by me) seems to have branches all over, might be worth getting in touch??. (scroll own for EU locations)

Fitting marginally cheaper in the UK. Learnt a new word Rear = Hinter in Flemmish.
Thanks - very helpful.

Or if you find yourself in the French speaking part. Try " Un nouvelle pnue dans le 'arrisend s'il vous plait mate ! "

and then surreptitiously checking the guy's footwear before giving him the g-ahead !

www.blackcircles.com do motor bike tyres. When I checked for car tyres, comparing like for like, they were £9 cheaper on a £70 tyre, than anyone else in my area.

I think I'd rather have a new tyre fitted somewhere local in the UK. I can't imagine that there would be a significant price saving anyway on the continent and if there is any problem in the interim period afterwards you have the option to go back to the fitter and complain.
Not that I envisage a problem as such but what you have got to remember with bikes that there is more work involved in changing a rear tyre than on a car for example. Things such as the front to rear wheel alignment, the chain adjustment and the rear brake being disturbed all need careful consideration etc. At least if you are closer to home and a subsequent problem becomes apparent, a minor problem won't turn into a major one.

And you get what you pay for. I had to wait two weeks because they sent the wrong tyre twice, ended up with their MD getting involved before it got sorted.
Cold day in hell before I use them again!
