Can't remember the logistical reasons but the last supermarket petrol station I worked at would regularly shut down certain pumps to ensure that the tank levels got run down at same level as it made refilling easier. Something to do with the tanks having different capacities.

It's because everyone's been panic buying in case the blockade has any effect - so all the blockade does is cause hardship to ordinary working folk.

Erm sorry, what blockade would that be? They made it very clear they were only going to protest peacefully, legally and that there would be NO blockades. The few that turned up (!) made no attempt at blockading.

Yes... ignoring the fact there actually wasn't a blockade in the first place, if anyone has filled up "just in case" (a bit silly) then it just means they don't have to fill up again for a while. Massive hardship that is...

The hardship is for those that now need to get fuel but find shortages because of previous panic buying.
For the record I'd love fuel tax to be reduced and income tax increased to make up the revenue shortfall, that would suit me nicely !!

The blame for any hardship lies with those who panic bought, you can't blame the protesters as to be fair they made it clear this time there would be No blockades. And they do have the right to peaceful protest!

I've never faced such hardship, even when the crops failed in my village. Nothing is worse than the odd pump island being out of fuel for a day or so. Damn the protests. Big shat out to all my fellow labour fanbois!

During the big fuel protest of 2000 I worked at Heathrow and the Esso on the South side of the airport is one of the few in the country with a direct connection through a pipeline. Through out the whole event it never ran dry but I remember being behind he following.
1) Bloke with an Fiat Uno and a big black bin about 250 litres probably. That was quite a wait.
2) A bloke with a Honda lawn mower (it was November ?) 40p worth of unleaded !!
3) A woman who asked how you fill up...she had people to do this but it was they're day off (how could they)

Don't wish too hard; they might cut your Incxapacity Benefit instead.

Don't be concerned, I've never claimed benefit and I've paid enough contributions to get full pension when I get to 65.
My income is all derived from tax-free sources, not difficult but it does need "thinking outside the box".
