My understanding is:-

Automatic has Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive plus the ability to hold 3,2,1 to stop it changing up beyond the selected gear.

Geartronic has PRND the same with a sequential selector for individual gears which can allow holding of a higher gear as well as a lower gear.

I believe that it's just a change of gearlever and ECU, the gearbox is the same Aisin-Warner built by a division of Toyota and used in Lexus, Toyota, Volvo fwd, Opel/Vauxhall cars and latterly by Ford and Freelander 2.

Thanks RT, is one more reliable than the other though?
