..Jurors heard his high-performance BMW 6 series car.....
....the boxer did not accept his car was a high performance vehicle capable of rapid acceleration.
He said it reached 0-60 in 7.2 seconds which was "just like an average car".

Mr Khan, who denies dangerous driving, reached a top speed of 47mph as his BMW hit Mr Hatton, breaking his leg.

Perhaps I do not understand what a high performance car is.
The BMW site states:- base model 530i 6.2 secs and the 650i 5.2 secs for 0-62.
Perhaps he had an old base model ?

"Khan banned for careless driving "
"At Bolton Crown Court Khan was cleared of dangerous driving, but found guilty of careless driving. He was given a six-month driving ban and fined £1,000."

Khan cleared of dangerous driving - DP
He was given a six-month driving ban and fined £1 000.

A complete irrelevance for someone of his status and income. He can afford to employ a driver, and let's face it what's a grand to someone reported to earn several million pounds through a single sponsorship deal with a major sportswear brand?

Cheers

I think you may be confusing your boxers - "Prince" Naseem Hamed was the chap convicted and sent down a while back for a diving related offence.

I assume it was a 630i Automatic with the M54 Straight Six. This engine in an Automatic E39 5 Series is 0-60 in 7.1 seconds. I cannot see a 6 Series being any quicker.

An attack of the bends? Took a dive in the 4th? You must be getting your boxers in a twist :-)

"0-60 in 7.2sec-average car", yes. My '98 Almera does 0-60 in 8.2!
Khan cleared of dangerous driving - Altea Ego
I bet you my pension you cant get your 98 almera to do 0-60 in 8.2.

Unless it being towed by something else.

Now he has got previous.

There seems a wide variation of the speed reported and the speed admitted :- (

"Khan's suspension will run concurrently with the six-month ban he received last October"

So £1K + £790 + £brief + no more time off the road = a good result?

"District Judge Pamela Baldwin said there was insufficient evidence to prove Khan was driving at more than 100mph, but that she was satisfied it was in excess of 70mph."

Seems appropriate in given the evidence.
Khan again - rtj70
If he was doing the speed he said, around 75mph (indicated) he'd not have been stopped.

At least it was a higher fine and longer ban than the 10mph woman! But how many points did he get for it?? Surely he should have got a longer ban for this.

13 months to come to court, playing the system to its limits.

Once met Khan at Leeming Bar McDonalds (of all places) and he seemed a decent kid but surrounded by pink fluffy dice.

A lot of the money he will make is based on reputation; looks like he's taking that apart bit by bit, a shame really he should have a look down the road to Hamed and see where he could end up.
