That's a generic emissions fault message.
There are countless possible reasons that will become clearer once you have had it scanned for fault-codes by your local garage.
|
hey, thanks thanks for the reply,do you know what sort of cost it is to have this done, thanks
|
It depends a lot on your local area; but £25 upwards is fairly typical for a quick code-read - anything more in-depth gets dearer.
Codes only help to identify the general area of the problem for further checks and should be treated with care; they are never part replacement instructions.

Depending on where you live an 05 car should be under warranty. Take it back to the supplying dealer or the one who did the service 3k km ago and get them to fix it, for free.

I just heard a bit more about this on PSA and VAG diesels.
This is a significant issue on any car fitted with a DPF (diesel particulate filter). They really aren't suitable for some types of use (short journeys and continual use around town). Apparently VAG has been quietly changing some taxi drivers out of DPF equipped Skoda Superbs as they should have been advised they weren't suitable for use as Taxi's.
I know someone with an Jag S Type diesel (of course that's the Ford/PSA unit) and the dealer has told him he's using it wrongly and has offered to do a deal to swop it for a petrol.
|
...Presumeably the car that's the subject of this thread is a petrol, though.
|
yes the car is petrol,i was on a long enough run(2hours),came back for 20 min and went to go back out and it happend,i get the power back say for 5 min with the fault display and then goes again,i also get the orange light up showing the engine block.im in Ireland and most cars including mine only have two years warranty,so mine has just passed in june.im worrying as i googled "anti pollution fault peugeot" and it was not nice reading.the owners can never get rid of the fault even going into peugeot 2-3 times and if they did the car was never the same.

Do you not have similar consumer protection laws in Ireland as in the UK? Here, a consumer item (including a car) can be deemed to be not 'fit for purpose' if it doesn't last a reasonable length of time. The law can only be applied against whoever sold the car though, so if gets a bit messy if you didn't buy new or you're not easily able to go back to wherever you bought it.
I too had this fault on a Peugeot, although mine was on the short lived HPi petrol 2.0L engine. Mine was a company car and I persevered with it for the last 18mths of the 3yrs I had the car, only to find out we'd had another one at another branch and Peugeot had funded the leasing company to take the car back early!

Fret not; this fault isn't likely to be one of the unfixable kind. Could be as simple as a failed injector.
Just get your local garage to plug it in and get the fault codes; come back with them and we'll then be able to see what the situation is.

just to give you an update,my peugeot 307 went in and was told that the hydraulic valve was clogged and needs to be flushed, well its been flushed and came to 150 euro, picked the car up.it was fine driving home, started it up again later and up it came again.it has now gone in again and i have been told they will flush again and if that does not work"i have major problems".now where do i stand, the warranty has run out june just gone, surely if this is a major problem peugeot has to take some responsibility with the cost seeing that its warranty has expired only 4 months ago,how would i go about it if im not getting any joy out of the local dealer.would i have to get in touch with peugeots main office.
|
The "hydraulic valve?" What on earth are they wittering on about?
Give them a ring and ask for the exact fault-code numbers that they found.
|
thanks for the reply,im waiting for them to call me back.the car has since been flushed with no joy and have been told that they have to change the cylinder head which they need to take the engine apart and im looking at 800 to 900 euro and they cant garantee that will fix it which does not sound right,i mean how much am i supose to spend until its fixed, surely they should be pinpointing the problem and will garantee that it will be fixed at a fixed price.the dealership is now closed and bank holiday on monday.
|
So they took a wild guess at what - tappet jacking? Cam actuator? When that didn't work, they stuck to the same idea [the only one that they've heard of?] and now want to spend even more pursuing it?
Is this the 16-valve engine? Are the letters KFW or KFU in the middle of the VIN number?
What makes them think that this is a lubrication problem and, if so, why isn't it a warranty matter if the car has been dealer serviced with the correct oil from new.
|
thanks again,im in uk at the moment and flying home(ireland) tommorrow so i will look at vin number,i think its a 16 valve, the bottom line is they will give me the error numbers on tuesday and its up to me to decide weather for them to carry out the job and no garantees,do you know who they would answer to,like where would the head office be,would it be in france or in uk.i did try a google search for the head office in ireland but only came up with the uk office, this is such a headache as i know nothing about cars and dont know if you could trust the dealer.i will get back to you with all numbers on tuesday, thanks again.

Hello, I've got exactly the same problem. I've got a 2.0 petrol 307cc 05 plate. I drove from Norfolk to medway, approx 2 hours, anti pollution fault came on and when the revs go below 2000, they won't go above 1500 and goes into a "limp" mode. Had it plugged in with peugeot planet and it came up map sensor, replaced it and it was still the same. Husband came home and changed the "O" rings around all the injectors and now it's fine :-). It is the second time I've had to replace the "O" rings in a few months. I had bought some from a local garage as Peugeot charge £54.05!!!!! for 4x of the rings. They're like plastic tap washers!!! Obviously something's wrong and ruining the washers but until I find out what that is, I'll keep changing them as and when
