Guys,
Got a problem with the idle on my 306 (1.6 TU5 engine) - 1997.
I want to replace the stepper motor but for the life of me I just cant seem to find it!
Does anyone know where it's located on the TU5 1.6 engine??
Thanks all.

Usually on the end of the inlet manifold - a black cotton-reel sized thing with a four-pin plug.
Don't switch the ignition on with it removed.....
If this is randomly surging at idle, with large timing variations; it could be a spiked ECU from a coilpack fault.

if you opt to clean it, make sure you do it with carb cleaner and not something like wd40 as that will just gunk it up again over a couple of days. new ones are about £30 on ebay

There is nothing on the end of the inlet manifold. There are two rubber hoses coming out of it, one (the smaller one) goes back to the top of the airbox, the other slightly thicker one goes into a what looks like some sort of solenoid that has a '3' pin plug on it. That then goes back to the other side of the throttle body.
Thats where I thought it would have been too, but nothing!?

'97 is near a change year; have a look in your VIN number for xxNF?xxxx - that's the engine code and will help.
It might be on the throttle housing on a late one with the long coilpack.
