td 1.9 will not start - simon26r
i have a 1.9 td Peugeot 306 and i removed the fuel filter and now it will not start
have tried to bleed the pump but not to sure on what to do next to get it going
please help

"Removed" filter?

Slacken two of the fuel pipe nuts on the injectors; crank it over for max ten seconds, or until fuel spits out.

Tighten nuts and try it.

i want to clean the injectors as well. is it a good idear to put some cleaner in where the filter is

Unless you're a diesel specialist (unlikely, I would suggest) don't try "cleaning" the injectors - you can't.

Cleaner is a waste of money - get the system working to specification.

Bosch or Lucas pump?

If you have introduced air into the low pressure side of the fuel system, bleed this first. Don't think about disturbing the HP side until this is done.

Details will vary with the FIE fitment, but in many cases, repeated operation of the hand priming pump will bleed the air back to the tank via the pump return line; sometimes there is a bleed screw in the filter head.

Your best course of action is to read the manual for the fuel system fitted to your car (the XUD can have either) and ensure beyond all doubt that the sealing rings in the filter are correctly fitted.
