honda make the car, so read their manual and bo by what it says.

Don't always believe what you see on websites;one recommended on here earlier in the week doesn't even list a tyre for my std. production Escort.

When I had an 02 1.6 Civic it was 10w40, Honda dealer used a shell semi-synthetic 10w40 but forget the name.
Oil company website may possibly be referring to set up for Civic in US or non UK country.
I'd go with Honda UK spec as outlined in Handbook, or just check last service sheet if you have it.

The cheapest API-SL spec 10w40 semi-synthetic you can find. No brand-names, no fancy 0W30 "Edge" nonsense. Just plain old oil, as per most other non-Ford petrol engines. Local motor factors should sell 5 litres for well under £15.
