Saw both these in France over the weekend. Both disappointments.
The Twingo looks for all the world like a faclifted Citroen C2, especially from the side and rear. The front is just plain bland. What with the new Laguna, whatever happened to Renaults design flair?? The original Twingo is still an outstanding piece of design, but doubtless the new one will be cheaper to make and more profitable ... yawn!
The Pug 308s were on a transporter, and it was only when I was right alongside that I realised that they weren't 207s. I know they are based heavily on the 307, but it looks just like a 307 facelift than a new model.
Timidity in car design is usually a sign of nervousness for the times ahead IMHO

I think the Twingo looks massively overpriced for what it is and whats on the market. I would be surprised if it buils up much market share

So where does that leave Porsche?

Yes, Renault seems to have lost the inspiration brush. Still good job Citroen have rediscovered the wierd roller, or i would despair of the French.

Renault have a habit of swinging from inspirational to conservatism every few years. I still think the MK2 Laguna (pre-facelift) is one of the loveliest designs ever to grace the roads. Shame they didn't get the reliability right (to start with anyway).

yes the facelift to the Mk2 laguna was a dire warning of things to come.
I still think the megane (botty) was the finest design touch ever.

Must admit I hated it when it was first launched, but it's growing on me. The Renault badge, however is a reason I would buy neither the Megane nor a new Twingo - I appreciate the build quality's getting better, but the engines aren't long-lived enough to convince me they'll be 100% reliable. I happen to like the styling of the new Twingo, but I agree it's nowhere near as distinctive as the model it replaces.

In the case of Renault, it's probably a sign of the designer having had his wings severely clipped after the wonderfully weird Vel Satis didn't sell.
