On hol in France I bought something resembling the Grip Pad advertised at the bottom of the page. Used it in the Altea on a vertical curved surface and it held my Nokia phone in place.
Very impressive!

Brought one earlier on this year, my Sony Erricson sticks on fine even driving round sharp corners.
