Astra 2000 Sept, 1.6 16v LS estate has 15inch wheels fitted. The handbook specifies 14inch only for the 16v version, the 8v having 15inch.
Please can anyone shed light on the effects of this vis-a-vis ride characteristics with hard fuel saver tyres, etc.,
Also would not the speedo, odometer and trip all under reading by 7%???
Regards
Brian

I had a Jan 2001 Astra 16v that had 15" wheels and ECO tyres, the tyres are lower profile than the 14" wheels giving the same rolling radius (or OD). Although I can't compare the ride with the 14" version, subjectively it was not harsh.

If it's a factory fit, then Vauxhall will have no doubt programmed the ecu for the size of wheels fitted, as the speedo is electronically driven.
The following site has a tyre calculator, if that's any help:-

Thanks Kith and DD, I found out from my local Vauxhall dealer that the car was factory fitted with 5J 15 inch wheels and 186/65 R 15 H tyres as are now fitted.
This begs the question why does the handbook specify 186/65 R 14 H for the 16v??? typo?
Car bibles is very good - thanks
