long loads - peter tyler
What are the regs regarding carrying long rowing skiffs on top of cars ie accepted length of overhang.please?
Re: long loads - Kevin Alder
I've tried to find a simple answer to this but have failed.

A one metre overhang front or rear (or both) is almost certainly ok.

A rear overhang of more than one metre probably needs a warning triangle.

Any overhang of more than two metres is probably of questionable legality.

Try asking a traffic cop, or get a lawyer to read Schedule 12 of the Road Vehicle (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986.
