Mazda Premacy ? - mal
As a follow on from my thread on the Mazda 5 which I have now decided against, any opinions from owners or former owners of the Premacy.

They look a cheap buy second hand and the sport would give me plenty toys including the all important sunroof although there is no diesel version, but at the prices I would be making a big saving against new alternatives.

Hi again

beleive it or not prior to our Mazda5 we actually owned a Mazda Premacy. It was a 2000 W registration 1.8 GXi petrol (99 BHP). I owned it for around a year and spent nothing on it bar petrol and insurance. They are very cheap to buy and are at least as good as all the other 5 seat mpv's - picasso etc. Ours was the base model, but still had Air con, CD, remote locking, loads of airbags etc. In the 5 seat model the rear seats are all individual and can be removed seperately - we managed to get a 3 seater sofa in the back or ours ! The 7 seat version is however less practical with a middle bench seat which is not removable.

There is a diesel option, although I understand it is quite a "low tech" and noisy unit, around 90 BHP IIRC.

We paid £4K for ours, ran it for a year and got £4K back for it !!

cheap AND reliable family motoring which made the problems we suffered with the Mazda5 all the more irritating.

Found a private 2004 sport version 30,000 miles for only £5750 so there are some cheap buys out there, unfortunately this one is 160 miles away.

FiL has had one (petrol) from new since 2001. 80k trouble-free miles. Takes everything, including the kitchen sink and quite comfortable to drive. A good buy if regularly serviced.
