"Smeary Windows" - maby66
well - not smeary at all really, but it makes a good title.
second hand car purchased, dealer price stickers peeled off, rectangular outline left on windscreen.
White spirit?
Vinegar and brown paper?
Mr Sheen?
Re: "Smeary Windows" - ian (cape town)
Lighter fluid works best, I find.
DON'T use anything abrasive!
Re: "Smeary Windows" - Dave
I use MER car polish, but I would imagine other brands would do the same trick.
Re: "Smeary Windows" - Moosh
Paint thinners work best for me.
Re: "Smeary Windows" - ian (cape town)
Yes Moosh, but it tastes &%^&*^ horrible in a zippo!
:)
Re: "Smeary Windows" - Buscy
Paint thinners is a bit dangerous - what happens if it gets on the paint?
Re: "Smeary Windows" - Moosh

Depends on how clumsy you are I suppose??
If applied to a rag in a small quantity, not so's it's ringing wet, none should get on the paint anyway.
Re: "Smeary Windows" - Jonathan
Nail polish remover works well too.
Re: "Smeary Windows" - Andy S
beat me to it Jonathan - nail polish remover is acetone which dossolves the adhesives - so does lighter fluid but its horrible.

Try WD45 to remove the smear - then wash with soap and water.
Problem solved.

I wouldn't now be without a can of Maplin Label Remover (Ordercode UP74 - 250ml) for about thirty bob a can. Removes those labels that manufacturers stick on things which, when you try to peel them off, leave bits of paper and adhesive on the item. Will probably help maybe 66 out as well.
