Ok this is a common fault with renault automatics its not as simple as it sounds to check and top the fluid ,to check it it has to be at working temp the gear box has to be in neutral with the engine running undo the level plug if fluid runs out slowly its up to level if not Putin half a Ltd at a time until it starts to run out the level plug ,

Now the complex bit the gearbox has a counter and it needs to be reset according to how much fluid you put in ,this has to be done either by the dealer or a transmission shop that has a the renault bi directional diagnostic unit called clip that can reset the counter .

My view is to change all of the fluid and get the counter zeroed ,if the problem persists I'm afraid its its the EMV valves and that's going to cost ,

I have the training manual on this gear box reading it is a real eye opener !
