C3 HDi cutting out - c3dhi

Hello all! Here's hoping someone can suggest something...! I have a 54 plate C3 1.4Hdi 8 valve. The car is totally standard. Mileage stands at 58K, and it is used for 70 mile a day round trip commute, A class road with some fast and some slow sections. I have for some time been having problems with it cutting out - and can occur a couple of times in 35 miles when it does happen. It does it only momentarily as a rule. (It did die completely once and refused to start for a couple of hours). It can go couple of hundred miles between occurances. When it first started I put it down to poor fuel after my local station had changed their tanks. It tends to happen only while driving, can be at just about any speed . It cuts out as if it were "missing" but then clears almost straight away. i dont know if I imagine it but it does seen rough for a second or two after. i haven't yet had time to take it anywhere for codes etc to be read.
Serviced regularly - I changed the fuel filter too just in case...
