I have the 140bhp 2.4-litre, 5-cylinder engine in the V70 and whilst it runs well, I've heard that it is the same as the engine that pumps out 170bhp.
Does anyone know who, in Derbyshire, can tune the engine and release the extra 30bhp, which I understand will increase power & mpg (so, actually quite good for the environment).
Thanks.

I think you are correct. Earlier v70's/850s had 10v and 20v engines, the later ones are the same.
I would say that I think the insurance hike for tuning your engine is quite high - more expensive than insuring the 170 version.
plenty of firms will tune. ask on the voc forum for advice - volvotuning do the RICA stuff.
the BSR kit has a good name and can be bought online (you plug it into the diag socket and it upgrades the ecu)

Many thanks for your help.

If you search the web for 'diesel tuning' you will find there are lots available.

the 2.4 is petrol.
the diesel is 2.5 (well 2.49 or something) the vag unit. although late 2001 might have been the D5
