Is it OK to drive car registered in my husband's name in France. I have insurance documents in my name. We are divorcing and he says I cannot take my car abroad which was originally registered by him when we bought it 4 years ago. He says he can report me to the police. Meg

Meg,
You need to seek advice on this from a specialist. The replies that you get on here may be well intentioned but could cause you problems.

Usual advice is to travel with he v5 "logbook" form and, if the insured/driver/keeper do not match (eg a company car) a letter from the keeper giving permission for the car to be taken out of the country.
Having said that I've never hd to produce any documentation either at the port or the roadside across what must be 10/15 trips to France.
I think the police threat is bluff, can't see them bein that intersted in a documentational domestic, though perhaps you should be sorting out a transfer of keepership.

Well I have some well intentioned advice, based on facts that are similar to your circumstances.
I have a company car, leased, these are the rules so this is probably pertinant to your case as well.
To take a car abroad you have to have a valid registration document in your name, or a letter of approval from the registered keeper. If you have neither a: your insurance could be invalid, and/or b: you may be asked to produce the V5 or letter when in France.
b: has never happened to me in mainland europe.
