Can you give a mention of the stereo (eg, as a Sony adapter won't fit a Kenwood) & the car it's going in (eg, as the adapter may well be different for Vauxhall than one for a Ford).

You can get kits from Halfords and some online retailers, which plug into the car's wiring loom, and convert it to operate your new stereo. Bought one for a Renault Clio with an aftermarket Sony stereo, and it was incredibly easy to fit and worked no probs. Think it was about £35 for both connectors (the Renault one and the Sony one, and the box that sits between them).

You need 2 parts to allow you/your mate to use the steering controls

1: Adapter
2: Interface
