What oil would be recommended for my newly aquired HDi 110 (in a 406) assuming 6k changes?
I have a few gallons of Total Q7000 left from servicing its XUD predecessor which meets the handbook spec but would a fully synthetic 5w40 be more appropriate?

Quartz 9000 is recommended for my Xantia 110.
Cheap enough at GSF.

i use 5-40 fully synthetic in mine. Smoothened it out a bit an mpg is slightly better. It will find any leaks though.
I only got that becasue halfords had it on offer at the time.
Other than that any good quality semi synthetic 10-40 is fine in my opinion

I use Shell Helix semi 10/40 in my HDi, (The one in the blue container.) and it gets 6k changes.
By the way,I only have to pay for the filter,as my oil is free gratis.
The perks of being an HGV driver.

I've always used Millers XFE semi-synth in all my diesels, including my current 406. Even with 110K miles on the clock, it doesn't use a drop between oil changes.

Thanks all, looks like I can use either so perhaps I'll finish what I've got and then switch it to a fully synthetic later.
