do the crank sensors in ( dis) ignition cars need any maintenance? i know they are not moving parts so i assume no wear but do they get clogged up with old oil or gunk? and is it woth taking it out and giving it a clean just for a better tick over

You stand more chance of damaging it than improving it - leave well alone unless it gives you any trouble.

Agree, leave a lone, they tend to get stuck in the block, so when you remove it they can easily get broken...however, yes they do get a littl dirty and metal filing stick to them.
