im sure that engine was knocking anyway prior to the clip?
|
TO, I thought you were referring to sitting in the front seat of a Peugeot 406 for longer than 30 mins.
|
Interesting to see what an engine can tolerate and still keep on running.
I would have thought that the water (or oil) would have wrecked it at once, but apparently not!

Ouch :o(
Can someone just confirm that as it was getting slower and slower, what was causing that?
I can only assume the engine was seizing partially with the piston touching the cylinder.
Or was it the bearings over-heating?

Those old 4 cylinder Mercedes taxis are tough, for sure.
But the nitro blow-up was just the inlet tract, not the engine.
Hasn't anyone got a link to a proper engine blow-up with conrods coming through the side of the block and valves bouncing off the ceiling?
Would be best in slow motion.

The engine backfired on the nitrous run and blew the plenum chamber apart

Not that one, the old diesel Merc!

Not that one the old diesel Merc!
I'd guess that the Merc! had neither coolant or any oil inside it and it was partially seizing

That engine should have lasted for a thousand years!
My brother had an old car which he bombed around the fields in at home - after he burnt out the clutch he welded the clutch plates together. Worked well until the entire clutch exploded quite spectacularly.
