Hi all,
Right then, we have decided to sell the Audi on Ebay
Want at lease £700 for it so thats what we are going to set the reserve at
Whats the best price to set the bidding at, is it below the reserve price. I have seen cars with reserves of £2-3000 with starting prices of £100
Also do any of you have any tips on content to make it sell better and also best picutres to take? It will be cleaned and looking smart
TIA

Hi Tim, in my experience it's best to;
Have no reserve. Your car will reach a higher price as a lot of potential bidders will ignore sales with a reserve.
Starting price of 99p. Bids attract bids.
Take the cleaned car somewhere nice, and arrange for the sun to shine. Use 12 photos, from all round, including interior. Take very clear shot of the drivers seat to show condition. Take lots of extra shots and pick the best 12.
Make it very clear that you are not moving banger auction stuff.
Mention the bad points.
Hold your nerve. Let the auction run to the end, unless someone comes to view and brings readies. Check cash carefully.
Best time for sale to end is sunday evening.
Remember, if you present it properly, it WILL achieve the maximum price properly. Good Luck!

If the reserve is £700, then you might as well get it started at a much lower figure - you want to get people in and bidding.
Pictures - take the car somewhere good and empty, even an empty car park, and take at least:
front on, rear on, both sides on, looking down each side, from front or rear, interior, front and rear, inc. driver's seat. Highlight any damage (sound odd, but makes sense) and take a close up if needed.
Content - keep it factual. You are selling a sub-£1k car - no fancy stuff.

Just one more thing - make clear that you will not accept bids from new ebayers with zero feedback. It really is not worth the hassle, and when their bids are there, other bidders lose interest as they assume it is someone playing at auctions, or one of your buddies. Any such bids that appear, politely cancel them. Just my 2p's worth, based on personal experience.

Hi Vito, I am only an e bay buyer! However, you may say that you won't accept bids from low or zero feedback bidders but, if they bid anyway, you can't get rid of them and stop their unwanted bids from cluttering up your auction - or can you?

It does seem a tough position to adopt, but it's very commonly adopted and understood. It is possible to cancel bids, I've done it myself recently. I've removed the bids as soon as they appear, and there is a space to type in the reason, where I've put a polite reminder of my terms of sale. Unfortunately, there is no way to ensure 100% that nobody bids for a laugh, but I think it's best to at least appear to be on the ball.
