i have a golf mk3 VR6 needs a new ABS sensor, is this expensive to sort out, MOT runs out soon
|
Not much detail to go on; but if it's a front one, they're around £40 and about half an hour to fit. [You usually have to chisel out the old one.]
|
to be honest i havnt bought the car yet, only its going really cheap mk3 golf VR6 1000 pounds 140k mile FSH, with only that problem, should i buy or give it a miss

Difficult question to answer without seeing it; but first get an insurance quote.
IF, repeat IF, it's only a wheel-speed sensor [these do suffer from ABS pump/ECU failure too] then that money sounds fairly reasonable for a tidy one.
How does the seller know that it's only a faulty sensor? Can you get that confirmed?
|
Are you usure it's not an over-heater??

thanks guys, good points Screwloose,
the sell said it only needs the ABS sensor for the MOT as it when for a pre MOT, and he also can show the report from vw garage.
|
Answer, get him to MoT it for you, agree to pay for the test and for the sensor if he insists, if it's something else it becomes his problem.
