Hi,
The interior fan on my mark 4 golf (the basic model, not the fancy automatic digital climate one) only works on full blast. The air con light comes on when it'd turned on, but no air comes out of the vents unless the knob is turned to the '4' setting. I''m seriously hoping it's a simple fix and a matter of a faulty knob... any ideas please?

Sounds more like a failed fan resistor pack.

A similar query, months ago re a SAAB I think, gave the answer that it was a relatively cheap fix IE a new 'resistor pack?' The pack may have failed resulting in variable speeds not being available = the syptoms you describe. How much this costs and how easy it is to fit I cannot say!

its by the glovebox
however
it might also be
ac heater blower module?
|
Thanks for these replies - is there any further diagnosis I can do to ascertain the cause - i.e. if it's the AC heater blower module would anything else not be working, like the hot / cold control? The Air con seems to be working OK as in it cools air.
Also, when you say it's by the glovebox, where is it accesable from - the screws under the glovebox, or behind the actual front panel of the climate controlls? (I have taken off the trim before in the drivers footwell on the other side so have some idea of what this involves)
Many Thanks for help so far.
