Vauxhall Cavalier 1995 2.0 gear change. - FotheringtonThomas
I've just come by this car. The gear change movement of lever seems a little stiff, but otherwise OK. Do I need to oil something? The car's done 162K miles.

You can carefully lift up all around the edge of the gear lever gaiter to release it & apply white grease or similar to ball joint at base of lever and then apply a general purpose grease to the rods & linkages in the engine bay right through to the top of the gearbox to see if this helps. You can even change the gearbox oil at this high mileage to make a difference.
