Hi,
Are any nationals offering good prices/discounts on car batteries? The Xantia's died this morning. It's a type 096 I need.
Thanks.
Steve.

Halford's were doing a special offer on calcium batteries a few weeks back - I replaced the one in SWMBO's 306 HDi - but I've no idea if the offer is still running.
|
Shame Halfords website isn't a little more extensive, I've had a look but there's no info so I might call in after tea. Do you know how much the battery cost for the 306?
Thanks.

"Any offers on car batteries?"
I'll give you a tenner for one.
It's possible that I'm not helping...sorry.

Glowplug - it was £73.99, which sounded quite a lot, though calcium is sometimes recommended for diesels, apparently. It was discounted from something like £90.

Costco sell the excellent Bosch batteries at a very good price.
The prices quoted on this post seem rather high to me.

Costco batteries are usually Very Good Value - typically under £50/£60 for a heavy duty type - catch is you have to be a member and that is £25 / year.

I saw that the CCA was 600 amps for the Numax and Varta, if that helps.
I take it CCA is Cold Cranking Amps, or something like that.

Costco or GSF, whichever is more convenient, and go for Bosch Silver.

In my 2005-6 catalogue
ECPs do Lion cheap 2 year 096 batteries at £36.50p + vat rated at 72 amps.
4 year Bosch Siver 096 are £52.44p + vat. rated at 74 amps.
Probably now at a similar price.
Get a Bosch unless you are getting rid.

||4 year Bosch Silver 096 are £52.44p + vat. rated at 74 amps.||
Amps and Amp-hours are not the same units. 74 amp-hours indicates how long you can take current out before it goes flat but tells you nothing, in itself, as to how good the battery is at starting the vehicle.
Cranking amps are to do with how much current it can drive your starter motor with. Rather an important parameter and something you should know before you buy the battery.

Sorry, they have gone up a tad, but still pretty good, especially the Bosch

I always use www.buypartsby.co.uk/battery-make.php
They are slightly cheaper than costco for BOSCH and no joining fee, but the delivery is £8 :(
