When I was 17 I had a vauxhall viva. I loved that car with the rally spotlights I put on it and the cb radio in it.
I was just wondering does anyone ever use a cb radio in their car now?
For the life of me I cant remember the handle I used. I think I changed it to often.
Looking back, those spotlights were so bright you would have thought a couple of lighthouses was coming towards you.

In 82 - 84 I had a CB radio in my DS 23 Familiale with an enormous magnetic antenna on the roof. My handle was, er, hawkeye.

When I was too young to drive, I dreamt of the day I would have a car with CB, but by the time I was 17, they were old-hat, and instead, big ETACS car phones on curly wires were the thing.
There are plenty being sold on ebay, so someone must use them!

Friend of mine at the time had a Viva GT, another an Escort Mexico with twin Webers and 4 Cibie spotlights on the front. The induction noise of those carbs was quite addictive and the light off those spots was like driving in the day! Cars are very sanitised these days by comparison!

In the pre-licensed CB radio days I had a basic 40 channel Midland radio with a "burner" (amplifier) and a K40 mag antenna that I won at our local CB club. It took all the fun out of it when they legalised and licenced it, everybody had one and the airwaves became overcrowded and people started using the emergency channel 9 as a normal channel. I was delegated the handle, "Premium bond" because my first name is Ernie. I guess as it has died off a bit then it might be OK now, except for the fact that you'd probably fall foul of the law for driving without due care and attention if you used it on the go..
