BMW Radio display - Colman
Hi -- I'm new on here and looking for advice. Hope I'm doing this right !!

I have a 6 year old BMW 530i and the radio / time display is now illegible as the pixels are quickly fading (BMW radio, factory fitted). Also got "funny" pixel shapes on the AC screen.
Initial enquiries to BMW dealership suggest that it will cost £450 - £500 to replace.

Any alternatives ??

Rather a well known problem. The pixels in the instrument display also go (ends up looking like Braille writing). It is apparently due to wrong choice of materials in the little ribbon cable that connects the display to the circuit board - it oxidises).
I don't think this is repairable. You need a new unit and I believe it will also need to be coded (programmed) to the car - maybe others will confirm....

Sounds like I've got a problem then -- thanks for reply
