What a nightmare! IMHO Dunstable itself is the armpit of Britain, but compounded with traffic lights at 50 yard intervals in places and with reversable speed cameras (no road marking but those cameras with what looks like an infra-red light pointing face on to you) at either end of the town you really need your wits about you. Coming south yesterday, I was so worried about the cameras I nearly missed a set of red lights - 50 yards after the green ones! Emergency stop complete with caravan on behind - an impressive sight!
Cameras battleship grey but it looks like some aggrieved local has daubed the supporting pillars with some left-over domestic yellow paint.
Rant over.

It is the worst main road that I ever drive on.
Furtunately I know the road well, but the council are deliberately making the congestion worse in their push for a by-pass

It can't have more traffic lights on it than the A12 can it?

I thought the repainting of speed cameras in yellow had now been made mandatory? I passed a couple (well within their limits) yesterday that simply had yellow panels attached/added!

Which bit of the A12 do you mean?
|
the bit between the M25 and the City (ie the Romford bypass)

That is the bit that the M12 (postponed indefinately or cancelled completely?)was supposed to bypass.
I agree that it is dreadful as the principal route into/out of London from Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk, as well as that from Kent to north London via the M25.
