Hi there, just a quick question if anyone can shed any light. I'm charging a battery using an external charger, can you overcharge a car battery?

Definitely yes! Not a huge problem with a domestic charger; but ideally the terminal voltage shouldn't exceed 14.4 for a modern lead-acid battery. Sealed types should really be charged with a voltage-regulated charger.
The stink of battery gas usually tells you when it's had enough; ammeters on chargers tell nothing. Battery gas is highly explosive; take careful spark precautions.

Thanks for that, I'll be careful then. Cheers.
