Heard today that unleaded petrol may be worse for the atmosphere than leaded. I'm no scientist but I am given understand the benzine causes more damage than the lead......anyone with any real knowledge on this?

Lead makes one mad. Benzene gives one cancer. Lead hangs about for years, Benzene is gone in moments. It's not good in high concentrations, but nor are any of the aromatics in petrol. Lead pollutes rivers, streams, food and animals. Benzene generally evaporates as an aromatic.

They said this when it first came out. Far worse though, is Aspartme, hydrogenated oil, soya 'milk' and rubbish like that, but it's not so trendy to say at the moment.
