I am currently having problems with my clio, It is a L reg 1.4 auto. While driving the rev counter will suddently jump
up to around 60000 rpm, and then settle back to 30rpm.
Also when sat at lights it is prone to jumping forward, or feels like it is slipping out of gear.
I was wondering is it the Idle control problem or worse still a gearbox fault, or could it be something easl?
Any idea's?

Sounds like a gearbox problem - our Megane did this sort of thing before its gearbox packed up.
We were quoted £2500 for a new box, but managed to get the old box fixed for £1500 at an auto box specialist - it was the hydraulic actuators in the box which had failed.
Sold the car about 9 months later and got something Japanese instead.
