Can anyone tell me if a 2001 306 hdi would have an ecu that learns the drivers style? I was wondering whether it is possible to increase mpg by 'resetting' the ecu?
I have just replaced the throttle position sensor too so would it learn about how the car is driven over time or is there a way of kind of clearing the data to start from scratch
forgive me if this is a daft and/or vaugue question
cheers

You have just replaced the throttle position sensor, So disconnect the battery & let the ECU go back to base factory settings & relearn the engine with its new sensor fitted.
I take it you have the radio code?

thanks for that how long does the battery need to be disconnected is it a matter of seconds or leave it off a while?

5 minutes will be fine.
Reconnect the battery, lock & unlock with the remote fob.
Will run & idle a bit rough for first 15 ish miles as the ECU relearns.

ill give it a go let you know how it goes cheers
