Remember my RAC renewal where they had jumped it from the £34 last year to a renewal of £65. I was chuntering that the building societies had just been pulled up for disadvantaging the existing members in favout of new business etc etc.
Thanks for all the replies, I did follow several leads up and came close to a switch.
However phoned the RAC today (one day before renewal) and put the case to them again, keep a customer etc etc, they finally agreed to renew for £43. Basic recovery for self plus SWMBO, both any vehicle and as a passenger.
Decent deal and good of them to see sense. Well done RAC.

Do a search on a thread called "Overdose of telly tonight" dated 18 March, and all will be revealed. In truth, none of us knows what our individual SWMBO means - we just have to guess, and then we still get it wrong!

I've done this now for the past 3 renewals, first time they said they would match the Internet renewal price, second they would'nt and said my renewal would be stopped but it wasn't. This time I applied in the wife's name with me as the additional driver, no problem. I went for the additional service this time of onward journey anywhere in the UK (I cant remember what they call it) for the same price as the standard cover and I get a £10 Marks' Voucher. It was an offer that came in with my Water Rates, you just need the promotion code and you can do it over the Internet
