My wife has a Corsa easytronic,it will not start and is showing aflashing F in the gearshift display,I have renewed two relays but this has not helped. The Tech 2 diagnostics are saying that the ECU thinks it is in 4th gear and will not let it start,if anyone has any experience of the above symptoms and any suggestions I would be delighted to hear from them,it is currently sitting in a vauxhall garage waiting for them to get round to looking at it.cheers Wrock

The easy tronic gearshift on these (and similar Durashift system on Fords)is basically a manual gearbox with an electro/hydraulic clutch release system and 2 electric servo motors for gear selection driven by an electronic control unit. The most common failure on these is the servo motors .they are supplied as a pair and cost around £300.These semi-auto systems seem to be totally unreliable ,with most cars showing signs of failure in less than 30k miles.Best suggestion;sell it and get a proper auto! hth

Your comments are interesting. I am looking to buy a new yaris with the mmt tranmission but cannot decide if the mmt is worth paying extra over the manual. Is the toyota system the same/

As I've posted on here before, the motor industry has a long history of producing 'innovative' semi- and fully-automatic transmissions. Most of them have proved to be costly and unreliable. The only system that has stood the test of time is the traditional stepped-ratio automatic transmission with torque convertor. Get one of those, either GM or Japanese-made, and you should be OK.

Well our easytronic is still standing at the vauxhall dealers, the fault was found to be in the clutch actuator, this has been replaced by a new redesigned mechanism, however it is waiting for the software for reprogramming.I dont have any complaint with the dealership they have tried all manner of ways to get the software to no avail, but I cannot see how the software would not be available for a redesigned componnent.Has anyone any ideas how I might expedite the situation,I have contacted vauxhall customer relations but have had no joy any suggestions gratefully recieved, Wrock.

When I'd waited a month for a layshaft for a VW Sharan (it was a taxi!) I actually rang VW HQ in Germany (I can speak German as it happens, but they could speak English perfectly). Two days later I had the part. Maybe you could call GM/Opel in Russelsheim, Germany? I imagine they'll be some on the other end who can speak English.
