As strange as it seems i need to know which is the positive wire on an old nokia charger? There is a black and black and white wire moulded together that would normally go into the piece that would go into the car cigarette lighter.
All advice gratefully recieved.

I can't tell you which wire is which on the nokia charger but the centre pin on the socket/adapter is always the positive.

Black with white trace is normally +ve, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

Stripe is usually pos, as Aprilia says.Wire it up and check polarity of output witha multimeter

Bung a needle into the middle, then check whether it's positive using a voltmeter. Occasional ones do have +ve on the outside, so don't just assume. The cost of a mistake is much more than the cost af a cheap multimeter.
