Hi All.
just wondered which i should choose?
05 plat renault clio 182 sport spoiler pack (front lip and larger rear spoiler) 1 owner 22K miles fullRSH silver - £9750
giving me £14500 for my old car, paying off £10300 finance, leaves me with £5600 to borrow.
or
55 plate clio 182 sport with cup spoiler pack (see above) + (suspension pack, grey wheels + lower suspension) 1 owner 10K miles FullRSH silver - £10300
giving me £13750 for my old car paying off finance leaves me £6850 to borrow
for the wifes car. she does around 7K miles p.a. guess she dosent need suspension kit, so cheaper option better?
and 05 plate still got 1 year 3 months warranty. (both UK cars)
your choices please.

Blimey! Borrowing that sort of money to spend on a Renault makes me go wobbly! Bit like standing under a cold shower tearing up fivers. Get her a Micra for £5k (she'll be more than happy with that) and have a nice romantic holiday each year instead of paying finance and making the bankers even richer.

Totally agree with that ,I bet the interest alone is more than the residual value.

she wants a renaultsport 182 clio. black, but have got her off black, because of the constant washing needed. silver will last longer between washs.
and always remember to obey SWMBO !!

In the reliability index the renault clio is as good as a bmw 320.
its the best renault for reliability

Nice car, would quite fancy one myself, but definitely not in silver. I would opt for a dark colour - black or blue, but also good is the metallic 'French' blue. I also imagine that these would be easier to sell on than a silver coloured one.

I would go for the 05 as there is plenty of warranty left which I'm sure you could always extend.

why not silver Red Baron?

Clios are excellent, larger renaults do not fair quite so well in relaibility terms.

The 55 / 10k car would be worth more in the future though not much more if you keep it a few years, perhaps try and screw another £500 out of the 55 dealer.

Are they both from Renault dealers? I would rather buy a car of that type / age / value from a franchised dealer so if one is a Ren dealer and the other not that might swing it for me.

These cars are bought with the heart rather than the head. Some enthusiasts prefer the 172 as it wasn't 'drive by wire' and claim the throttle response was sharper.

For me I would borrow/beg/steal a bit more money and get the 197.

A 182 Clio is a sporty car and IMO silver is not classed as a sporty colour, especially as perhaps 25% of all cars are just this colour. Whenever I have seen one on the road, they have been a 'colour'. This, perhaps, in part, because silver colours are so common and no longer stand out. I dont' recall seeing many silver Clios - think of the resale value / ease.
