You beat me to it. I was just about to start a similar thread after reading an article on teletext.
Apparently BBC stopped Top Gear. When they then realised that Channel 5 had taken on the old presenters, they sook the services of JC.
In the article on teletext, Quentin is quoted as saying something along the lines of "All people want to know is how fast it will go and if it will pull the birds?"
Hmmmmmmmm.
