Hi all
I am now forced to have another est car or van ,( due to the insurance company writing mine off ) question is choice what one I need it to carry 3 Dobermans and use every day , also motorway driving .
which est is best value for money but about 2-4 years old and on finance .
The sales people just see you comming.

My recommendation would be to get one which is just coming off lease - these are usually 3 or 4 years old and around 80,000 miles. Top choices would be mondeo or vectra estate etc.

I'd try the likes of cargiant, or look at autoquake (seller) on ebay.

You're looking to do two purchases. One of the car and one of the finance. Take both seriously.

What vehicle have you just had written offf ? And what were its particular advantages and/or disadvantages ?

Mnd you, I reckon the suggestion of an Omega estate is a good one.

Depends on what your budget is. If very low, you can't do better than follow HJ's advice. If you want something more comfortable for you and more spacious for the dogs, try a Mondeo or Octavia. Both of these have more room in them than the competition, and you'll get a newer one for your money than you would a Volvo, which is the other possibility if you want acres of room.

Or a Fiat Doblo. Ugly as hell but cheap and more room for the dogs. If the dogs are a priority I would look at the Fiat; it is even bigger than the berlingo and almost as cheap.

If you're used to the space of the Granada, there are still afew forces running dog adapted Mondeo estates. Similar to the Focus HJ mentions. They really are dog carriers, not just an estate thats carried dogs - even got a fan built into the roof, for proper ventilation.

This means not to attractive as ordinary transport, as you'd never get them turned bag into a 'car'. Hence the bargain prices.

Omegas are just about finished on Police fleets as estates, in any real numbers now, even in general terms not too many about.

Forget the van option, as you'll be wasting £1000 in vat - even if you buy at auction, you'll be paying too much. Plus, say Astra estate car of same miles/year as Astravan , will be 1/3 cheaper, at least!!
