Could anybody tell me if an R reg Micra 1.0 Shape has a drivers airbag fitted as standard? Thanks

Glass's Guide Checkbook tells us that a Micra 1.0 Shape Passion from October 1997R had a driver's airbag.

Thanks HJ. I looked at my Parkers guide and the info given was rather ambiguous to say the least! I am currently helping my younger brother, who is 19, to buy a suitable car with a low insurance group. We are currently favouring the Micra, Corsa or possibly a Saxo, although I did test drive the latter and it felt rather tinny and the driving position was awful! My friend knows a trader who is selling a Micra 1.0 Shape, R reg, 32K miles with a fsh for £2750 which seems good, although I would prefer to buy from a garage where we would get some form of warranty, but we would need to pay more....ho-hum!

Sounds like a good deal. The Micra is very reliable, well built. Make sure you have power steering.
