Volvo V50 diesel - nozmeister
Looking at buying a 2nd hand one of these...

Any one here running one of these and can tell me about the reliability, economy, servicing costs, etc.

The one I'm looking at is a 2.0D SE.

Having sat in one I like the fact that it has a bit more space than an A4 and has a lot of safety gear.

I've recently bought a V50 D5 diesel, so can't comment much on the 2.0D other than I understand it's a unit from Ford and is a big seller in this car.

As for the V50 in general, people seem to either really like it, or be pretty unimpressed! It's not big enough for some people (people expect Volvo estates to be huge!), but if it suits your needs (or mine) then who cares!

Some folks would say it's not worth the premium over a Mondeo estate, and equally not as "prestige" as a 3-series or A4 estate. Each to their own. I like the fact that it is none of the above!

Most criticisms that you come across are petty - for example the door pockets are absolutely miniscule and will barely hold a CD. But this is because the sides of the car are full of safety aids..!

Volvo V50 diesel - type's'
A friend has one and he really rates it.
He's had about 12 months and I cannot recall any problems but as nick says - do not buy it if you need space - I was suprised at how small they are inside.
