Am having engine problems (pop-pop-popping & more recently just cutting out). We think its being caused by an opaque/translucent jelly from the fuel tank which we have found blocking filters, the carb needle valve, main jet, emulsion tubes - its getting into everything! After clearing the car will work for a while but this jelly returns quickly.
Any ideas on where it comes from & how to get rid of it?
early beekle or old beekle?
its an oldie - 1972, 1300 engine new 2yrs ago - we use unleaded fuel
when leaded petrol went and unleaded came in i used to find a lot of cars had this jelly,it was the internal pipes rubbers etc breaking down you really need to do a thorough overhaul of your fuel system.
the other reason? someones tate and lyled your tank,
thanks, will do.
What does sugar actually do? is the jelly a symptom?
the sugar turns everything in the tank into a gloop, very nasty stuff, thankfuly not seen this deed done on a car for a while
That was my initial thought, haven't been a naughty beekle have you ?
no... besides, how could anyone not like a beekle?
thanks for your help

Hello? I am here.
But hey even I dont hate beetles enough to do that,
Yes it sounds like you have been sugared. Tank needs to be steamed cleaned, and all the pipes, pump, filter, carb cleaned and flushed.
