Freezer trick is an urban myth.
With most, if not all Phillips stereos, there is a time delay limit imposed upon incorrect entry of code. The more times entered incorrectly, the longer the wait. ie, starts at 10 mins, then doubles per wrong entry: 20 mins, 40 mins, 80 mins, 160 mins - etc. The stereo and ignition (or power feed if not fitted in the car) must be left on during the waiting time before another attempt at the code can be retried.

sounds like a vauxhall type
it may be better to junk it if you have to resort to a radio decoder type man
plenty of goodish radio/cds about for £36 with removeable fronts (makro etc)
my local radio shop want £17.50 to recode these

There are firms that can tell you(for a fee) the radio code if you give them the serial number of the radio-an ex-Rover dealer may also have access.
|
To quote the OP "i have a code on the radio" which presumably means someone has written the code on the radio casing somewhere.
If the OP doesn't have the code, I know of a site where you can request the info for free.

chuck it in the bin and buy a proper one, even the latest goodmans at 49.99 would be better.

Hi
Tryed that but i have to put the code 7078 in it but the display only has 123456 on it so unsure how to get 7 can anyone help
Regards
|
If it's the same as mine, you only use buttons One to Four to enter the code.
Press button one 8 times to enter 7
Press button two once to enter 0
Press button three 8 times to enter 7
Press button four 9 times to enter 8.
Then you have to press and hold down another button until you get a beep (AS on my stereo, but yours may be different) to store the code.
|
|
On mine (Ford) you have to press the first button the amount of times that the digit is.
For example - if the code was 4767 you'd have to press the one button four times, then the 2 button seven times, the 3 button six times and so on. The five button enters the code.
That's on a Ford though.

Just tried it, but ERR is on the display!
|
Actually we're both wrong Adam.
Via the power of google the proceedure is:
Switch Radio On - Display Shows " CODE "
Press Preset " 1 " and the display will show " 0 - - - "
Press Tuning Up Button " > " For Correct Digit
Press Preset " 1 " to Enter
Press Tuning Up Button " > " For Correct Digit
Press Preset " 1 " to Enter
Press Tuning Up Button " > " For Correct Digit
Press Preset " 1 " to Enter
Press Tuning Up Button " > " For Correct Digit
If the correct code number is now shown
Press Preset " 1 " to Enter
btw sirion, no need to SHOUT. Have now edited your post back to sentence case letters.

hi
will probably wait till morning as the err may clear i only have one problem that a ladybird has just walked into the radio i hope this causes no problems or will it clear the err code
|
You're asking whether a ladybird wlll clear the error code?
Pass.
|
i dont know it could do i think disconnecting from the van and leaving in the office overnite will clear it but it there is a reset button maybe this ladybird has reset it
cheers
|
I think one of us has drunk too much.
|
If the ladybird has the wrong number of spots on it, it will screw the code.

Getting back to more serious discussion - Disconnecting it won't work.
By the power of google again,
"Please note that code entry is only possible when the display shows "CodE". If the display shows "Err" then it is codelocked. If this is the case, leave it switched on for up to two hours and a further attempt at code entry should be possible. "
