Howdy!
Cold enough for you?

Actually Mark is quite warm here (it was 15deg C in the south today), but verrrry peed off! As a gesture to that nice Mr Woollard he's hired a Citroen C5 and HATES it! Guess what gesture he's making now!

That's interesting about the C5, Martyn. There are probably several current Xantia owners who will be looking to the C5 as a natural replacement.
It would be interesting if Mark could give a potted summary of his views, at some stage - following his excellent report on the Xantia.

I hope he keeps it long enough to give a sound and objective view, no rushed tests and negatives please.
It can't be worse than a Xantia....can it?
David

He's probably wondering why they put the steering wheel on the wrong side and other drivers keep aiming at him.
|
I was just thinking. The C5 is a bit of an odd shape.
You're not sitting in it back to front?
David

When he said he wanted a C5, maybe he didn't specify CITROEN.
|
Tom,
Normally they change the rental fleets quickly......but if they had one left in storage......
And which flag would he fly from the mast?
He'll need a therapist.

Mark wanted to go with me to a car auction while he's here, so if you're reading this, Mark, I'll be at BCA Blackbushe tomorrow (Wednesday 13th) from about 11.00 to about 1.00. Can't go on Friday because have to be in a meeting about this website.

Mark,
A quick warning.
don't go into paroxyms of mirth when a Freelander or Lada comes up for bids.
You're likely to get lumbered with it!
"Sold to the man with the suntan and his hand over his mouth!"

Will there be just one person sporting a trilby there?

I assure you, Mr. Woollard, that any report I write about this car will be well thought out.
I only hired the thing because I thought you'd enjoy having a poke around in it. I didn't think it would be that much of a sacrifice. However, it would appear that it is going to cost you lunch, and at least an hour of listening to me whinge about it.
Anyway, you can take the Citroen out for a play while I have another pint, but sadly, I don't think you will like it.
FYI, I even got the bloody diesel just to make it really interesting for you. I am tempted to swap with your Landrover.
Anyway, I'm driving up north this morning, we'll see how it does on a long trip. I reckon that I will have put around a thousand miles on it by the time I leave, long enough to have some valid opinions, I think.
And anyway; why did you write "it can't be as bad as the Xantia" ? I was quite nice about the Xantia, wasn`t I ?
HJ - can't make it wednesday, I'll give you a call Thursday.
Ian - its bloody cold, raining and windy; but I do enjoy being in this country. London Pride yesterday lunch, Martyn even bought be a Cheddar Ploughman's - excellent.
Tom - I did worry about the steering wheel being on the wrong side, but I thought people were aiming at me because of the car I'm driving. Does anybody else think it looks like a Sierra ?
Strangely nothing seems to have happened in Eastenders in the last 12 years and I managed to pick up the story where I left off, although I don't know where Dirty Den is know. Although doesn't Ian look a pillock. You would have thought that even if he couldn't act when he started Eastenders he would have learned by now.
Also saw Deals on Wheels last night. Saw Mike Brewer. I was relieved to see he wasn't the person I saw testing a Cherokee a year or two ago. He bought a Citroen H Van. I think the C5 is based on that model.
Quite an amusing show really.

Mark,
I'm driving north tomorrow (after checking with my local Audi dealer about possible damage due to 'Pothole' - see above thread).
If I see a C5 diesel, bloke with a tan, no trilby...
...I'll wave.
OK?
(Conservatives in that London Pride can cause hangover.)
Martin.

We are talking the saloon here?. Sierra from some angles. From the rear Volvo 144 circa 1973. Looks much better as an estate though.
I hesitate to ask but did it do anything for your opinion on diesels?

It most certainly did. I can now argue with confidence as to why they're bloody horrible and should be left on tractors.
