both key fobs for my t reg peugeot 306 HDI have gradually failed over the last few months obvioulsy due to battery failure. having now inserted new batteries (3V CR1620) in both fobs there is still no life. I have tried a different brand of battery also.
surley both fobs can't be faulty?
I have checked that the batteries were put in the right way up!
Any suggestions?

They will probably need re-calibrating with the car as they use a rolling code. Not sure how this is done on the 306, but try putting the key in, turning the ignition on without starting and hold down the lock button for a few seconds. This works on Citroen's and they share immobiliser systems.

well, thanks for that. i went out and tried it and after about a 20 - 30 second stint the first key fob is back in action. the second however is reluctant to work. i have not tried changing batteries around as it is new batteries i am dealing with. is it possible that it will only let you calibrate one key perhaps?
one working is better that none though!

Both the keys for my 406 have failed one way or another due to the switch contacts parting company with the circuit boards. They can be re-soldered but not a job for the faint-hearted. After doing this neither key needed reprogramming but just operated straight away. If I remember I have had to do both switches on one key and the "deadlock" key on the other. This for a '96 model.

I solved the missus' 306 key fob problems with tin foil; in her case the battery contacts were at fault.
Still going strong several years later.
