Being an environmentally aware kind of motorist, I have been keen try running the old Passat TDI on biodiesel. I live in east Somerset and there is nowhere locally that I can find that even sells low-percentage blend of the stuff. All the websites about biodiesel outlets seem never to be updated. It seems I live in a desert as far as renewablesare concerned.
Yet now there are two major biodiesel plants on teeside - Biofuels PLC and D1 Oils PLC - (I've got shares in both!).

Isn't there one of the companies that will deliver in bulk? I think it was Rix. Or maybe you don't have somewhere to store a 1000 litre cube! I'm thinking of organising things this way for myself as my main supplier has relocated to the other side of Belfast and it's a lot more travel time to get there now.

Bear in mind that storing >200 litres of fuel (other than central heating oil) puts you into the fuel storage regs, which are very trying. Only way round it is to have your storage tank inside a building....

I live in Nottingham and have the same frustration Sofa Spud. Theres a Rix filling station I've used in the past that does the pointless 5% stuff but its 15 miles away and at that particular place the fuel costs more than normal diesel, so its not convenient and not cost effective. There was a Tesco that sold it 10 miles away (convenient on a Sunday drive to Clumber Park) but last time I visited they had switched back to normal diesel.
There was a company called Broadland Fuels that used to sell 100% stuff mail order, but I've just tried their website and it now links to "NTF Fuels Ltd" with no mention of biodiesel. The cost of postage used to make it less cost effective anyway. I assume you've seen the Bio-Power network of distributors, but not one very near to you?: www.bio-power.co.uk/agents.htm . I tried one in Sheffield but several emails went unanswered, and now he's no longer on the list.
Been considering getting some shares in D1 Oils myself too.

A very small and run down local station started selling 100% biodiesel at about 9ppl less than the local derv competitor. We tried one tank and it was fine, but since then they never have any in.

Use Tesco finest vege oil if you want to save the planet with a tdi.

I have given up trying to source legal, pre-made, 'proper' bio-diesel anywhere near me. (Surrey).
Would even be prepared to pay more for a few tankfuls, out of curiosity value.

On the bio-diesel thread, I filled up with 60 litres of this stuff in Spain recently. My Audi A4 TDI ran perfectly with neither loss nor-gain in performance over the regular stuff. Also, it was the same price as mineral diesel which was sold along side it in the same service station.

I have been using 100% Bio from Germany for years because its cheap (no engine problems either)

I would love to be able to pour 41p/litre Makro veg. oil into my car, but I was advised (by someone on a SVO/WVO forum) not to risk it with the injection pump on my car. So my only option is biodiesel, and I can't even get hold of that... :o(
