Just returned from a long trip into France, and I was tempted to fill up with Gazole (1.12) but I found a BP station locally that was selling Ultimate Diesel at 1.19 so I stuck to that (about 2 tank fulls).
Was I being overly cautious or would I not have noticed any difference in my cars performance.

Gazole is just French for diesel. Shell, BP, Total, Supemarket, diesel just the same as ours (but quite a bit cheaper!!)

I just thought that Gazole had a high(er) sulphur content then our regular diesel, so that's why I went for the Ultimate as it is 'sans' sulphur, and only a little more than the Gazole (1.19 against 1.12).

Nope Gazole is to the same EEC standard as our regular diesel. French and german diesels were designed to run on it.

Thanks for the info, I'll stick to the cheap stuff next time (some supermarkets that I passed were selling it at 0.82 Euros!).

"some supermarkets that I passed were selling it at 0.82 Euros"
You sure?
Just spent a month in France and I didn't see it below about 1.09 euros even at supermarkets. Was .82euros GPL (gas)?

It must have been.
However, this week gazole - and other fuels - have come down four or five cents a litre. Supermarket price for unleaded 95 is about 1.20 (85p approx)
|
Sorry, it must have been my eye sight.
|
No matter - even at 1.19euros your Ultimate was only about 80p a litre

French diesel has 5% biodiesel in it. I find that my car goes better on this mix.
