having serious trouble with all interior elecs on 2.0 sri 140....alternator light is on but is charging at 14v interior lights flash windows wont work unless handbrake is off low fuel light flashes all the time all gages and dials dropped to zero but all exterior lighting works fine a engine runs fine...oh..and the windows will do up as and when the choose lol ....any ideas or help would be much appreciated..thanx

If this is a new shape Vectra, have a close look at the CAN-Bus wiring - particulary that section that runs in the scuttle, under the front windscreen, and particularly the joint/connector where the CAN-Bus branches off to the ABS module.
I know it sounds an odd place to begin...
If that fails, it will probably need you to get it plugged into Tech2. The problem is that there are more Tech2s than people who know how to drive them!

my apologies its a 1998 vectra hatchback and now ive been thinking about it the problems all started with the interior light flashing whilst driving on the motorway in the heaviest rainfall i seen for ages then the problems got progressivly worse....maybe a short or something just dont know where to start

all wiring seems good clean and dry and all fuses under the bonnet are good.....cant think why i have no ignition lights and no power till the engine starts...its driving me nuts

probably water has indeed got into the dash somewhere or affecting an important earth somewhere...... torch up back of dash etc time.....

I think the first place to check is your fusebox.Sounds like you have one blown if you say nothing lights up untill the engine is started.

time to get the volt meter out then cos now when i engage reverse the glove box lights up and the lights left on buzzer sounds lol......thanx for your help guys..anymore ideas would be much appreciated

If you're now getting a problem when you select reverse; first check that the wires to the reverse-light switch on the gearbox haven't chafed through. That's a Vectra speciality - though this sounds more like a rear-light cluster/earth issue. Get someone to check all your rear lights are working. Have you changed any rear bulbs lately? Have you got a twin-plug tow-bar?
