I own a carlton 2.0 GLI, the drivers seat vertical adjustment is jammed about 1/2 way up, being 6 foot tall this means that my head is brushing the roof, after a long journey I get a stiff neck from sitting at a strange angle. I've had the seat out and can't work out how to release it. There are 2 allen screws on thr circular box which presumably has a dirty great spring in it, unclear what they are for. I'm not bothered about retaining the adjustment function, I just need to get the seat a bit lower. Any suggestions?

Beware of strong springs in seats - they can inflict pain & injury.
Suggest a quick visit to a Vauxhall dealer for an opinion (don't do 1st theing in the morning when they are busy). They might tell you how to do it or tell you its a half hour job and charge you £20 or £30.
Looking @ it in perspective, its not such a lot of money, you wont maim yourself and it will solve the problem ......
